Written summary

A clear medical summary of the key information covered in this video

Chemotherapy is not automatic after a breast cancer diagnosis. Decisions depend on tumour size and grade, lymph nodes, hormone receptors, HER2 status, age, menopausal status, general health and sometimes a validated genomic assay.

Some patients gain more benefit from endocrine therapy, HER2-targeted treatment, surgery and radiotherapy without chemotherapy. The recommendation should follow complete staging and multidisciplinary review rather than one result in isolation.
